All Clear! Life Is Good :)

This update is going to be a little short due to a life that has become increasingly busy over the past two weeks but normal posts should resume next week.

The Finger Update

First, that numb finger I told you about?  Turns out it’s most likely a pinched nerve.  Which brings me to a funny story. [Read more...]

Troubles On The Way To A Smaller Waist Size: 4 Hour Body Update

This entry is part 14 of 15 in the series 4 Hour Body Diet

It’s been a few weeks now since I started on this new path with the 4 Hour Body diet by Tim Ferris and I’m having some issues.  The trouble started a few weeks ago when work went from busy to insanely busy!  We have a big board meeting coming up and a big new strategy to work out.  As a result, my workload essentially tripled.  To give you a rough feel for what it’s been like, for the last few days, my days have been meetings from 8am to 6pm and then 3 to 4 hours of doing actual work which I never get to because I’m in meetings all day.  Add to that my wedding preparations (yay!) and a full social plate and my calendar has never been busier.

Somewhere in the middle of all this, my ability to follow Tim’s strict rules went way downhill.  It’s impossible to get a good lunch when you’re having catered lunch meetings every day.  It’s impossible to get a good dinner when your VP of something or other wants to go out and have a working dinner.  It’s impossible to eat well when you’re COO wants to take a visiting customer out to dinner and drinks.  Actually, I suppose I shouldn’t say impossible because it’s not, but it’s much more difficult than it was before this. End Of The Experiment And Beginning Of A New Lifestyle

This entry is part 13 of 15 in the series 4 Hour Body Diet

I’ve been comparing the 4 hour body diet to eating healthy for several weeks now and I’ve come to the end of my experiment.  The end result was 6lbs lost, about a lb a week, but the lessons learned were far more important. [Read more...]

Eating With A Conscience While On The 4 Hour Body Diet

This entry is part 12 of 15 in the series 4 Hour Body Diet

Cows GrazingThose of you who’ve read my blog for a long time know that I prefer to eat with a conscience. That is, I like eating food that is good for me and also good for the environment. Plus I love animals so I don’t want to eat something that is needlessly cruel to raise and produce. In fact, this is the reason I originally became a vegetarian, because I wanted to lessen my impact on the world around me. However, as the years went by, I found myself modifying my stance somewhat, which brings us to today’s story. [Read more...]

Article: HCG Diet Dangers

A couple of years ago I wrote an article about the HCG diet.  I called it a fad diet and stated my opinion on it, that it was dangerous and unnecessary.  I’ve been getting hate mail ever since, some of which you can see in the comments for that article.

Here’s an article from MSN saying pretty much the same things I did.  The HCG diet is dangerous and amounts to little more than starving yourself.

Movie Review: Fat Head

McDonald's Landmark SignIn 2004, Morgan Spurlock came out with Supersize Me, a documentary in which he ate nothing but McDonald’s for 30 days.  The results were less than good for Spurlock’s health and the movie came to be seen as an indictment of the fast food industry as a whole and McDonald’s specifically.  Fast forward a few years and here comes Tom Naughton with a response to that movie called Fat Head. A Story In One Meal: Tim Ferriss 4 Hour Body Diet Vs. Healthy Eating

This entry is part 11 of 15 in the series 4 Hour Body Diet

I was making dinner the other night when it finally hit me, I knew EXACTLY what the difference was between eating healthy and the Tim Ferriss 4 Hour Body diet.  However, before I let you in on that little secret, I need to fill you in on a bit of background.

My amazingly super awesome fiancé and I moved in together in January, right around the time when I was finishing up my first experiment with the 4 hour body diet, and we’ve been making an effort to cook more meals at home, something we’ve found to be fun and healthy.  Back then, one of my favorite meals to make was a a few shredded pieces of chicken breast, tossed in a pan with a few pieces of chicken sausage and then stir fried with cajun seasoning.  I would then add a bit of fresh greens and maybe some sliced up tomatoes and serve it up hot from the pan!  Yummy!
