The Least Healthy Drinks In America
Found this gem on MSN this morning. It’s a list of the unhealthiest drinks in America. Here’s a quick sampling:
9. WORST ENERGY DRINK
Rockstar Original (16-ounce can)
- 280 calories
- 0 g fat
- 62 g sugars
And this one:
7. WORST HOT CHOCOLATE
Starbucks Venti 2% Salted Caramel Signature Hot Chocolate (20 ounces)
- 760 calories
- 37 g fat (22 g saturated)
- 85 g sugars
- 380 mg sodium
That’s right folks, start your day off right with 760 calories of fat and sugar! That’s about three McDonald’s cheeseburgers by the way. Or how about Rockstar energy drink? 280 calories of sugar in that one. Sure, it will perk you up for a few minutes but is that really worth it?
The article goes on to suggest some alternative drinks in each of these categories but I still stand by my usual assertion which is, drink water! There’s nothing better than water.
Full article can be found here.

Thanks for this list. So many people don’t realize how bad some drinks are. They assume they just have to watch what they eat, meanwhile they are drinking 400+ calorie drinks.
Wow thats a lot of calories. I agree, water is the best drink. I have actually started drinking 2 bottles daily, but I have to say my bladder hasnt reacted well to it. Maybe it takes time.
Wow that’s a lot of sugar … 85 grams that is ridiculous! I could never drink something that had that much sugar… lol that is horrible. There is always flavored water.. for some added umph.

Wow 760 calories for a drink is just insane! The sad part is… I usually go to Starbucks, and I get their cold coffee drinks, I don’t get the one you listed here, but it just reminds me that I need to start checking the calories and nutritional value alot more.
Till then,

Ridiculous amounts of sugar. They haven’t exactly numbered s daily value allowance of sugars yet but its pretty much been said that we should consume less than 40 grams a day of added sugar. Natural sugar in fruits and milk is fine but the added sugar we should really watch out for.

There’s good news and bad news when it comes to liquid calories. The bad news is they are the most difficult calories for us to gauge, because we have none of the greasy, cheesy visual cues we get when we go face-to-face with a plate of loaded nachos or a triple cheeseburger. The good news is that they are the easiest calories to cut from your diet.
Soda as a whole is gross, very gross. This is very very bad for your health. If you think diet is any better your fooling yourself. Diet is worse for you than any regular soda. Sugar is better for you than the poisons they put in diets to sweeten it.
Indeed thats a lot of calories. I agree, water is the best drink. I have actually started drinking 2 bottles daily, but I have to say my bladder hasnt reacted well to it. Maybe it takes time.
