I spent a wonderful day up and down the pacific shore yesterday. Although we didn’t get into the Santa Cruz mystery spot, we did have a chance to see wonderful little towns like Pescadero and San Gregorio, plus sites like the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. If you’re in the area, take the time to walk through some of these areas. You’ll find places like Duarte’s, Waddell Beach and the San Gregorio general store, the only book store I’ve visited with a full bar and live music. If you’re not in the bay area, then try out some of the little towns and communities in your area. You never know what sights you’ll find.
And now, on to some of this week’s interesting articles:
From Mark’s Daily Apple we have this guide to fats. I’ve never seen such an amazing amount of useful information all in one place and in a very readable format. I encourage anyone who’s looking to learn about their bodies and nutrition to read this article. Kudos to Mark and his team for putting this together.

And in a somewhat related vein, here’s an interesting article about where your calories come from. I liked the message here as I often see people making this sort of mistake. Just because something is healthy doesn’t mean you can eat as much of it as you want. Moderation is also healthy. ![]()

I keep telling myself that I’ll stop posting articles about how bad sodas and other sugary drinks are for you because you all are probably sick and tired of me harping on this topic, but then I keep finding new articles about subject. I guess it just bothers me that people would pay money to harm themselves and the environment. Do yourself a favor and read this article about the connection between sugary drinks and diabetes and then do yourself another favor and switch to plain old water.
@The Tamil Star (ooh, my first article link from India!)
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be bland. Here’s an article from She Knows that will give you some tips about making healthy AND flavorful meals. I’m a great believer in this since I love eating. I want to enjoy my food but I also want to eat healthy which means that I don’t want to compromise on a dull diet.

Here’s an article some of you may find useful when proposing fitness plans to your boss. It’s about Medtronic, a company I know personally, and how their investment in employee health will pay off. With health care costs rising, employers should be aware that $1 invested in fitness plans could mean $5 saved in health care costs and that’s not even counting the increased productivity that healthy employees have.
