Weekend Roundup - Horse Show Edition
I spent most of yesterday at a horse show with my wife. In fact, I spent most of the day volunteering at the horse show which was fun if a little tiring. One reminder to everyone, if you’re going to spend a day in the hot sun, make sure to use sun screen.
And now, on to some useful articles from this week:
We talked this week about ways to make salads a bit tastier. Well, here’s another way to make vegetables taste good. I’m a big fan of wraps, so when the Diet Pulpit wrote up this great and simple recipe for a veggie wrap, I thought everyone could benefit from it. Seriously, it takes a few minutes to make, tastes great and is a very healthy snack. Make two and you have a meal.

Continuing on with the veggie and fruit theme, we have this post from Mark’s Daily Apple about the best and worst fruit. Mark worries about carbs a bit more than I do. While I heartily encourage people to avoid junk carbs from processed sugars and such, I’m in favor of as many fruit as you want. Still, higher carbs do mean more sugars so this list has some value.

From the diet blog we have this article about choosing healthy breakfast cereals. It’s useful, but I still think people need to stop thinking of breakfast as just cereal and eggs. Eat whatever you want for breakfast as long as you keep it healthy. For example, why not try one of those Diet Pulpit veggie wraps as your breakfast? It’s probably healthier than any cereal you’ll find.

And finally, if you absolutely insist on an unhealthy way to start your morning, let’s at least try to minimize the damage. Here’s an article from Back in Skinny Jeans about how to cut down the calories in your morning Starbucks Coffee. I will say again, that coffee is one of the worst ways to start the morning. It’s nothing more than a caffeine addiction with added fat calories. Do yourself a favor and kick the habit and in the meantime, listen to Steph’s advice.

Thank you so much the mention, glad you like the recipe. Veggies are so important - the more ways to get them in your diet the better.
